Sharks Shut Out Stingers 2-0 to Win Championship

  The Fall Season playoff games in the South Coastal Hockey League were low scoring close games and the championship game was not any different. The Sharks got a goal in both the second and third periods as they held on to defeat the Stingers, 2-0 for their fourth championship.

Mike Valenti put in the rebound of a Daron Jacobs of Pembroke shot to give the Sharks the first goal of the game in the second period.

Mike Crisp, off a feed by Hanover's Paul LaFond, scored in the third period. Crisp was named the MVP of the championship game.

Hanover's Greg Smith stopped 15 shots for the shutout for the Sharks and Pembroke's Mark Frano also stopped 15 shots in the game for the Stingers.
  In a consolation game, Jim Ford scored with six seconds
left to give the Saints a 4-3 win over the Crusaders. 
Marshfield's Jim Donovan had tied the game, 3-3 for the Crusaders with 1:01 left in the game. Derek Knudsen scored two goals and set up two others  for the Saints in the win.
  The Toros had four different multiple point scorers in their 5-3 win over the Whalers. John Tympanick led the way with a goal and two assists for the Toros. Steve Colella, Paul Brinkmann and Joe Craig each scored a goal and set up another for the Toros while Andy Clark scored two goals for the Whalers.


The league, which will begin its Winter Season on Sunday at the Hobomock Arena in Pembroke honored their leading scorer, Paul Lyons (19 points) of Pembroke, who plays for the Toros. Smith won the President's Award as the top goalie with a 1.45 goals against average and Peter Tamborella also of Pembroke won the Tony Shaw Sportsmanship Award.
